After an absence of a year or two, the Ontario Association of Home Inspectors has revived its annual Education Conference. This year, the theme of the conference is 20/20 Foresight, and the conference organizers have their sights set firmly on the future.
I’m honored to have been asked to participate in this event as a speaker. This time around, I will be giving a presentation on Marketing your Home Inspection Business for Growth – something that I think that many home inspectors will be interested in. I will be calling upon my experiences not only as a sole proprietor, but also (and especially) calling on my experiences with one of Canada’s largest independent home inspection companies. I’m sure that there is something in this presentation for home inspectors at all levels!
The 2015 OAHI Education Conference takes place March 7 and 8 in Burlington, Ontario. In addition to two full days of great education sessions, there is an “open mic” night on Saturday. I will be bringing along my bass to bring some bottom end to the house band, and I’d available to any participants who want me…especially if you’re doing a 12-bar blues in G. The OAHI Annual General Meeting is also scheduled to coincide with the event and will take place on Friday night.
Early-bird (i.e. cheaper prices) registration and hotel bookings end February 6, so visit the OAHI web site now to register for the conference.

If you are a home inspector, whether seasoned or student, I highly recommend attending this event. As a matter of fact, I have recommended that all of the students in my home inspection classes at Seneca College attend, and I’m delighted to see that the Conference Committee has made arrangements to allow students of college home inspection programs to attend at membership rates. I tip my hat to the organizers of the event for this excellent idea.
