Clarke Engineering performs mould inspections for building owners who are concerned about indoor air quality. A basic mould inspection involves the taking of two air samples – one sample of air inside the building and one sample outside the building (the reference). These samples are tested by specialists who produce a report outlining the types of mould present, and how much is present.
In a building with no mould problem, the number of spores should be same both inside and outside. But if certain types of mould spores have higher concentrations inside the home, this indicates that the source of the mould is inside the building. And high levels of mould in a building can make you and your family or employees sick.
Mould testing is offered both as part of a building inspection as well as a stand-alone service. In larger homes or more in-depth testing, additional air samples can be taken. For example, it may be of benefit to sample the air in the basement as well as living and sleeping areas. In addition to air sampling, surfaces can also be sampled, especially when mystery stains raise the suspicion that mould is present.
It’s worth pointing out that Clarke Engineering is not a mould removal or remediation company. We make no money fixing mould problems are are therefore unbiased.
Basic (one sample plus reference sample) air testing starts at $325, or $300 if added onto a home or building inspection. Additional air samples are $125 each. Call or email us to discuss your project and concerns.
